Basics

Linknor on iPad

On iPad, Linknor has its own interface with a sidebar and columns. The data and features are the same as on iPhone. This page shows what is different on iPad. In all other chapters, switch the images to “iPad” at the top.

Sidebar and sections #

Instead of the tab bar with “More”, a sidebar on the left shows all sections. At the top are Home, Inbox, Contacts, Lists, Organizations, Encounters and Tasks. Below follow the groups “Care”, “Analysis” and “Data tools”, which you can collapse, and “Storage” with Library, Archived contacts and Trash. At the very bottom are Settings, Help & tips and About Linknor.

The “Search Sidebar” field filters the sidebar entries. For example, “Bir” leaves only “Birthdays & Occasions”.

List and detail side by side #

In Contacts, Organizations, Lists and the Inbox, the list has its own column, with the selected entry to its right. Profiles of people and organizations have two columns.

In Encounters and the Activity timeline, an entry opens the matching form or target on the right. Birthdays, start dates, duplicates and the Data maintenance assistant show the list on the left and the editing on the right. The network graph and Map view show the selected person or marker in an inspector on the right edge.

Portrait and landscape #

In landscape, the sidebar is always visible. If you turn the iPad to portrait, it hides; the button at the top left shows it again. In portrait, the home screen arranges its cards in fewer columns.

Keyboard shortcuts #

With a connected keyboard, these shortcuts are available:

  • ⌘1 … ⌘8, ⌘0 – Home, Contacts, Lists, Organizations, Encounters, Inbox, Relationship management, Birthdays & Occasions, Library
  • ⌃⌘T – Tasks
  • ⌘N · ⌥⌘N – New Contact · Log encounter
  • ⌃⌘S – hide and show the sidebar
  • ↑ / ↓ – previous or next entry in the contact list
  • ⌘← / ⌘→ – previous or next contact in the Data maintenance assistant
  • Esc – cancel “Log encounter”

Trackpad, mouse and context menus #

With a trackpad or mouse, you use Linknor just as you would with your finger. Where you would otherwise press and hold, a right-click opens the context menu, for example with “Purchased” and “Delete” on the gift board. Drag cards on the gift and task boards to another column with the mouse.

What stays the same #

  • Your data syncs with iPhone and Mac via iCloud.
  • As on iPhone, Linknor hands calls over to Callnor. If Callnor is not installed, you can get Callnor or call with Phone.
  • Siri and Shortcuts are available as on iPhone.
  • All features of the iPhone app are also available on iPad; only the layout and controls adapt to the larger screen.
