Messages, Emails, and Calls

From the contact profile, you write emails and messages with the Linknor composer or make calls. Linknor prepares everything and logs the contact. Sending, however, always happens in Mail, Messages, or your messenger, never without your action.

Compose an email #

In the contact profile, tap “Email”, or in the “Communication” card, tap “+” › “Compose email”. The composer enters the person’s preferred address as the recipient. Use “Add recipient” and “Add Cc/Bcc” to add more addresses. Below that are the subject, the message with a character counter, attachments, and signature.

The bar at the top contains, from the left: drafts, AI assistance, template, variable, snippet, formatting, preview, and on the right the send button.

How it works

  1. Write the subject and message.
  2. Tap the send button.
  3. Linknor replaces the variables and opens the iOS mail dialog with all the content.
  4. Send the email there.
  • Linknor continuously saves your text as a draft. When you open the composer again, a notice says “Draft restored”. With “Discard”, you start over.
  • After sending, the email appears in the “Communication” card.
NoteTo send, an email account must be set up in Apple Mail. Without a stored address, you see “No email address set”.

Templates, snippets, and variables #

For recurring texts, the composer offers three aids. You find all three in the bar at the top.

  • Template: Under “Choose template”, you filter by categories such as Greeting, Follow up, or Invitation. Built-in templates carry the “Default” badge. Tap a template, check the preview for the person, and tap “Apply”. The subject and text are then inserted.
  • Snippet: Under “Insert snippet”, you choose short texts such as a closing phrase. They are inserted at the current position in the text.
  • Variable: Under “Insert variable”, you insert placeholders such as first name, salutation, or organization. They are grouped by Recipient, Professional, About Me, and Other. Linknor replaces them with the person’s data when sending.
NoteLinknor fills variables under “About Me” with your own data, for example from your address book contact.
TipYou create your own templates and snippets under More › Library. From the template selection, “Manage” takes you there directly.

AI assistance for your text #

AI assistance revises text you have written. In the bar, tap the sparkle icon. Under “AI assistance”, choose an action:

How it works

  1. Choose an action.
  2. Compare the original and the suggestion.
  3. Tap “Apply”, “Retry”, or “Other action”.
  • “Correct”: typos and grammar
  • “Friendlier” or “More formal”: a warmer or more businesslike tone
  • “Shorter” or “More detailed”
  • “Rewrite”: different words, same meaning
NoteAI assistance uses Apple Intelligence and runs on your device. It is only available if your device supports Apple Intelligence and you have turned it on in the iOS settings. The button only responds once there is text.

Formatting and preview #

You can format emails. In the bar, tap “Aa”. A formatting bar appears above the text field, with bold, italic, underline, bullet list, numbered list, and link, among others.

The eye icon opens the “Email preview”. At the top, you see the subject, below it the “Formatted preview” as the email will look to the recipient. Under “Source text” is the underlying text. With “Done”, you return to the composer.

NoteFormatting and preview are only available for emails, not for messages.
TipCheck the preview when you use variables or templates. That way, you see how the text comes across before sending.

Attachments and signature #

Under “Attachments”, tap “Add attachment”. You choose between “Photo / video”, “File”, “Camera”, and “Scan document”. The number next to the heading shows how many attachments you have already added and how many are possible. Linknor also files sent attachments in the Inbox.

With the “Attach signature” switch, you decide for each email whether your signature is added. Below it, you see a preview of it.

How it works

  1. Open More › Settings › Email signature.
  2. Turn on “Signature active”.
  3. Choose a template: “Simple”, “Default”, “Business”, or “Custom”.
  4. Check the preview.
NoteThe Simple, Default, and Business templates use the data from your own address book contact. If you keep it up to date, the signature adapts. For camera and scan, Linknor needs access to the camera.

Drafts #

Linknor automatically saves everything you write in the composer as a draft. If you cancel, nothing is lost.

In the bar, tap the tray icon on the far left. The “Drafts” list shows the subject, the beginning of the text, the recipient, and how long ago the last change was.

  • Tap a draft to load it back into the composer.
  • Swipe a draft to the left and tap “Delete” to remove it.
  • “Done” closes the list.
TipWhen you open the composer for the same person again, Linknor restores the last draft on its own.

Message via messenger #

In the contact profile, tap “Message”. The composer enters the person’s preferred number. Under “Channel”, you choose the messenger: “SMS / iMessage”, “WhatsApp”, or “Telegram”. Templates, variables, snippets, AI assistance, and drafts are available here too.

When you tap Send, Linknor opens the message dialog or the chosen messenger app with your text. You send it there yourself. Linknor logs the message in the “Communication” card.

  • You set the default for all contacts under More › Settings › Default messenger.
  • For individual people, you change the messenger in the context profile under “Messenger”.
NoteLinknor cannot pass attachments to WhatsApp and Telegram. If you add an attachment, the composer switches to SMS / iMessage. You can switch back and then send the attachment in the messenger yourself.

Calling #

In the contact profile, tap “Call”. Linknor dials the preferred number. If the person has several numbers and none is preferred, you choose one under “Choose Number”.

If Callnor is installed, Linknor hands the call over to Callnor. Callnor then reports the call back to Linknor, and it appears in the “Communication” card. Linknor only passes on names and the link to the address book, no phone numbers.

If Callnor is missing, the “Call with Callnor” sheet appears. There, choose “Get Callnor” for the App Store or “Call with Phone” for the Phone app.

  • With “Don't Ask Again”, Linknor remembers your choice.
  • Under More › Settings › Callnor, you reset the choice with “Ask Again” and see the connection status.
TipIf a person has several numbers, you set the preferred number for calls in the context profile.
