Upkeep & settings
Data & Security
Here you learn how to back up your Linknor data, sync it via iCloud, protect it and export it. You find all functions under More › Settings in the sections “Privacy & device”, “Backup” and “Import & export”.
Backup & Restore #
Under More › Settings › “Backup & Restore” you back up your Linknor data and restore it. At the top, under “Device Sync”, the page shows whether syncing via iCloud is active.
In the “iCloud backup” section, “Automatic backup” regularly backs up all Linknor data to iCloud Drive. Under “Interval” you choose how often, from “Every 6 hours” to “Weekly”; the default is “Daily”. “Back up now” creates a backup immediately. Linknor keeps up to 10 versions. Under “Saved versions”, tap a version to restore it.
Under “File backup”, “Export as file” creates a JSON file and opens the Share sheet. You can pass it on via AirDrop, email or the Files app, for example. “Import from file” restores such a file.
iCloud sync and documents #
Linknor syncs your data between your devices via iCloud. You see the status under “Backup & Restore” in the “Device Sync” section.
Files such as PDFs, scans, images and Office documents are controlled separately under More › Settings › “Documents & iCloud”. “Sync Documents” transfers not only the entries but also the files themselves. Under “Maximum File Size” you limit which files are transferred (up to 20 MB by default). Small files up to 1 MB go out immediately; larger ones wait for Wi-Fi as long as “Also via Mobile Data” is off.
Under “Status” you see the current “Connection” and how many files are listed under “Waiting for Transfer”. “Transfer Now” starts the transfer immediately.
Privacy & device #
In the “Privacy & device” section you decide what Linknor stores and who may open the app.
“Store message content” saves the full text of your messages in a contact’s communication. It is on by default.
With “App lock (Face ID)”, Linknor asks for Face ID, Touch ID or your device passcode when you open it and after more than 15 seconds in the background. While the lock is on, Linknor also hides its content in the App Switcher.
“Full contact access” opens Linknor’s iOS settings. You need full access to your contacts so that Linknor can read and edit notes in the address book.
CSV export #
Under More › Settings › “CSV export (Excel)” you export your data as a CSV file. You choose “Contacts”, “Organizations” or “Encounters”; each row shows the number of entries and the columns included.
After you tap the Share button, the Share sheet opens. From there you save the file to the Files app or send it on. The files use the semicolon as a separator and work in Excel, Numbers or for mail merges.
Import contact via QR code #
Under More › Settings › “Import contact via QR code” the camera opens. Point it at a contact QR code. In low light, turn on the flashlight at the top right.
When Linknor recognizes a contact, it shows “Contact found”. With “Save to address book” you add it to your iOS contacts; with “Scan again” you try once more.
