In Settings, you adapt Linknor to the way you work: appearance, layout of the views, address book, calendar, communication, and reminders. Privacy, backup, and export are described on the “Data & Security” page.

How Settings is organized #

You open Settings via More › “Settings”. The page is divided into sections that you go through from top to bottom.

  • “Appearance”: appearance mode
  • “Personalization”: order and visibility of areas, birthday correction, milestone birthdays
  • “Connections & defaults”: default address book, device name, calendar, default messenger, Callnor, email signature
  • “Address books”: Link Automatically
  • “Privacy & device”: message content, app lock, full contact access
  • “Notifications”: contact break reminder
  • “Backup” and “Import & export”: backup, iCloud, QR import, calendar import, CSV export
TipOn the “More” tab, you can search for a term such as “Calendar” in the search field at the top. Then only the matching sections stay visible.

Appearance and personalization #

Under “Appearance”, you choose “System”, “Light”, or “Dark”. With “System”, Linknor follows your iPhone's setting.

In the “Personalization” section, you determine the layout of four views: “Dashboard sections” (Home), “Contact sections”, “Organization sections”, and “Encounter sections”. On each of these pages, you drag sections into the order you want, hide or show them with the eye, and use the arrow to set whether they start collapsed when opened. “Restore default settings” resets the page.

You also find “Birthday correction” and “Milestone birthdays” here. Both are described on the “Occasions” help page.

Default address book and device name #

Under “Default address book”, you choose which address book is preselected when you link contacts. The “Available address books” list shows each account with its number of contacts. Use the magnifying glass to look inside an address book and the pencil to give it a name of your own. When linking, you can choose a different address book at any time.

The “Device name” appears on your other devices for contact links, for example as “Linked on …”. Enter a name and tap “Save”. “Reset to default” uses the device name from iOS again.

NoteFor the default address book, Linknor needs access to your contacts. Linknor only reads them.

Link automatically #

“Link Automatically” under “Address books” reads the selected address books and automatically creates Linknor contacts for matching contacts. Linknor only reads; nothing is changed in the address book. The setup is described on the “First steps” page.

Once the feature is set up, the “Overview” shows the “Status”, the “Address Books” used, and the “Last run”. Under “Exceptions”, you find three lists: “Excluded” (swipe to “Allow Again” to include a contact again), “Missing” (contacts that are missing from the address book; “Keep” or “Remove link”), and “Postponed” (open cases that you resolve individually or with “Accept all” and “Discard all”).

  • “Change Sources and Scope” opens the setup again.
  • “Remove All Automatically Linked Contacts” cleans up: contacts with their own content move to the archive, all others are removed.
  • “Stop Automatic Linking” stops further runs.

Calendar #

Under “Calendar”, you set which calendars Linknor may use for importing and for encounters. The calendars are grouped by account; you enable individual ones.

With “Sync Active Calendars from Weeknor”, Linknor continuously takes over the calendars enabled in Weeknor. Under “Default for new encounters”, you choose “System default” or one of your allowed calendars.

Under “Default behavior”, “Save new encounters automatically” determines whether “Add to Calendar” is already turned on when you log an encounter. Linknor then creates an event in the selected calendar when you save. Under “Delete”, you set whether the linked event is deleted by default along with an encounter.

NoteLinknor needs access to your calendars for this. Syncing with Weeknor requires that Weeknor is installed and that calendars are enabled there.

Messenger, email signature, and Callnor #

Under “Default messenger”, you choose which app the message button opens: “SMS / iMessage”, “WhatsApp”, or “Telegram”.

Under “Email signature”, turn on “Signature active”. Linknor then appends it to every email you write in Linknor; you can turn it off for each message. As the “Template”, you choose “Simple” (your name only), “Default” (name, email, phone), “Business” (with position and company), or “Custom” for freely written text. The first three templates use the details from your own contact card in the address book, which you set under “My profile”.

Under “Callnor”, you see whether the Callnor app is installed and when it last checked in. “Sync Now” starts the exchange right away. Linknor only provides Callnor with names and the link to the address book, no phone numbers.

TipIf the details in the signature are wrong, correct them in your own contact card. The signature then updates accordingly.

Contact break reminder #

The “Contact Break Reminder” alerts you when you haven't been in touch with someone for too long. Under “Default Interval”, you choose the interval: “Weekly”, “Every 2 Weeks”, “Monthly”, “Every 3 Months”, “Semiannually”, or “Yearly”. By default, “Monthly” is set.

Individual contacts can get their own interval in their profile or be excluded from the reminder entirely.

NoteThe reminder only appears if you have allowed Linknor to send notifications.
